ADULT ACTIVITIES

craftsCraft and Coffee

Both young and older women join together each week for a time of sharing ideas, learning a new craft, friendship and a cuppa. $1 for the morning tea and everyone is welcome. Mondays 9.30 am – 12.00 noon in the Starfish Room.

Indoor Bowls

A community group of people who meet weekly to share the fun of indoor bowls and develop friendships with others who attend. Members are mainly retirees but all ages are most welcome. Tuition given – bowls supplied. Very relaxed atmosphere. Mondays 1.00 pm – 4.00 pm in Hall.

 Mansfield Melody Makers

We are a community choir based at Broadwater Road Uniting Church.  Anyone who would like to learn to sing in a choir is welcome.  No choir or music experience needed.  Just come along & have a laugh and enjoy singing together with others from your community.  We practise in the chapel on Tuesday evenings from 7 pm – 8:30 pm except in School Holidays. Broadwater Road Choir

At present we have about 10 people in the choir and would always welcome new members interested in harmony singing and who would like to be part of our group. We practise on Fridays at 10.00 am in the church auditorium.

Music in Worship

If you play any musical instrument or would like to participate in leading worship and singing, you are welome to join one of the music teams to help in worship on Sundays.  Please contact the Office to let us know how you can help.

babies toddlersParent Support Group

The Parent Support Group is made up of volunteers both young and younger! Our aim is to provide practical and emotional support for parents in our community. Tuesdays during school terms. We run a play group style morning 9.15 am to 11.15 am for children ranging from babies to pre-school. All children’s activities and parent’s morning tea are provided for the cost of $3 per child, $4 per family per child.  

Property Maintenance

This team looks after all aspects of property management and care. You don’t have to be a member of the church to join this friendly team. People who have a heart for looking after property (especially anyone with handyman or homemaker skills) are encouraged to offer to help. The team meets every Tuesday at 9:00 am at the church to begin work and for a great time of fellowship. 

Working Bee

This is an open invitation to all members of the church to help out once each month with gardening, cleaning and special, small projects.  Come along on the first Saturday each month at 8:30 am to join the buzz of working together on the building and grounds.  Morning tea is provided.

This and That Thrift Shop

The shop provides clothing and household goods at affordable prices.  Volunteers are always wanted to help in the shop. If you like to meet people and have a couple of hours each month to help, phone or call in.  Monday, to Friday, 9.30 am – 3:00 pm, Saturday, 9.00 am – 3pm, Shop 2/ 1420 Logan Road, Mt Gravatt Central, Phone 3343 4788.

Mens’ Society

Men of any denomination meet in the Hall at 6 pm for drinks and fellowship. At 6.30 pm we sit down for a meal followed by a guest speaker on an interesting topic for men. The night concludes by 8.30 pm. Any one is welcome and it’s a great night for fun and Christian mateship. First Thursday of the month at 6.00pm in the Hall.

familyHome Fellowship Groups

We have several different home fellowship groups (friendship and bible study) in homes of members on various evenings and days of the week. Please contact the Church Office to enquire what is available on the day most suitable for you.

Vision Books

We offer a selection of Christian and family literature for all ages and stages of faith, and resources for Uniting Churches. The bookshop is located in the Church Office so come in and browse for that special piece of inspiration. If you have a passion for books or would like to help in order fulfillment for phone and internet orders, please let the Office know. Vision Books is open during church office hours: Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.  There’s also a selection of Vision Books items at This and That Thrift Shop (see above).
